Alan George, 47 years old lives with his family in Portland, Oregon. He is very instrumental in the SEMpdx organization, which does a lot of work helping the search community. Alan was the past President of that organization and is currently a sitting Board Member of the organization.
He has worked at the same company for over 19 years, Columbia Steel Casting Co. which shows his loyalty and devotion to the success of organizations and the people within them. He has years and years of knowledge and uses various platforms to help educate he colleagues and help them succeed in their personal and professional endeavors. He is known as a stand up guy who is approachable and friendly.

Alan, along with many other SEMpdx board members, have provided me and MnSearch valuable insight into building and growing a local search marketing association over the years. He's typically the first one to respond, and in great detail. Alan's a stand up guy that's always friendly and thoughtful, and has had an incredibly positive impact on our industry.
Alan George Bio: For over 19 years, Alan George has managed all of the integrated marketing efforts for Portland-based B2B company Columbia Steel Casting Co. His role as Marketing Manager combines marketing strategy, implementation, and measurement for a mix of digital and traditional marketing. Alan is a Board Member and Past President of SEMpdx.
Favorite thing about the SEO community? The SEO community is awesome because of the passion demonstrated for learning and desire to always want to know more, the sincere interest in helping others learn and grow, and its openness to include anyone who’s interested.
One piece of advice to the SEOs out there? The advice I’d give SEOs is to give back. Support the community and organizations that help you and others learn and prosper. Give back without the expectation of getting something additional in exchange, other than the knowledge you’re part of something great that deserves your support.
Favorite things in general? I enjoy craft beer, wine, gardening, Fall foliage, hiking, and being outside in the Pacific Northwest.
What you want to be known for in the SEO space? I would not be considered an "SEO" by many, in my opinion, but rather a marketer that knows SEO fairly well. And, I’m okay with that. I enjoy being an in-house marketer with a broader background of integrated marketing.
I’m fortunate to live in Portland, Oregon, the home of SEMpdx. SEMpdx is a nonprofit organization founded in 2006 that is dedicated to search engine marketing (and now digital marketing) education. I found SEMpdx in 2008, started attending educational events, became more involved, and joined the board of directors in 2010. In the realm of SEOs, I’m certain to be best known for my involvement, organization, and promotion of SEMpdx and its events. Along the way, I’ve learned a great deal and have met and had the pleasure to getting to know some wonderful people.
