Today on Google you will find a Google airplane logo to celebrate the life of Amelia Earhart. Today is her 115th birthday and Google wants to remind the world of her accomplishments.
Amelia Earhart is a story every American child grew up reading about. She was the woman first to fly solo across the Atlantic Ocean.
She was born on July 24, 1897 in Kansas and after years of aviation successes, she disappeared on a flight in 1937. It was her attempt to fly around the globe that ended in a mysterious disappearance over the central Pacific Ocean near Howland Island. To this day, her disappearance is still a fascination for most children and adults.
She was officially declared dead on January 5, 1939.

I am a bit surprised Google didn't make their logo a bit more animated but it still is nice to see an American icon celebrated on Google across the world.
