Threads over at DigitalPoint Forums and WebmasterWorld have dozens of comments about the Google AdWords interface slowing down to a halt for many advertisers. This left many advertisers painfully waiting to make important timely changes to their campaigns.
The first reports came in at about 10:30AM (EST) and then signs of improvement came at about 2:30PM (EST). But then new reports came back again at around 5:00PM (EST) that the system has slowed down again. I personally logged in once yesterday and it was a bit slow, and it did automatically log me out once. This morning, I logged in and everything seemed snappy.
AdWordsAdvisor knows about the issue and apologized saying:
When issues like this occur, they typically occur for a very small percentage of all advertisers. In light of this an 'alert' message in all accounts (including those of the majority who are not experiencing the issue) might prove to be unnecessarily alarming - and not taken kindly. Further, it's not a matter of just a few moment's work to pinpoint only those accounts affected and send an appropriate message - meaning that the alert could actually arrive after the issue had been resolved. All that said, I can only agree that knowing what's afoot is a very good thing - and I'll make sure your feedback is heard. I've already started to do so, in fact.
Again, I apologize for the inconvenience to those who had issues with their account today.
