Here is a recap of what happened in the search forums today, through the eyes of the Search Engine Roundtable and other search forums on the web.
Search Engine Roundtable Stories:
- Video Recap of Weekly Search Buzz :: October 22, 2010
This week at the Search Engine Roundtable I cover a nice amount of topics, I wanted to highlight the most important items. First, Yahoo Site Explorer has dropped out a ton of the links, Yahoo is saying it is Microsoft's fault. Google did a PageRank update for some. Google is testing a new AdWords Preview Tool, check it out. Advertisers are seeing huge spikes in cost per click costs since the Yahoo and adCenter migration. - Google Stop Indexing Blogger (Blogspot) Posts
For a couple days now, I have been spotting random threads with complaints from Blogger aka blogspot.com bloggers that Google has stopped indexing and ranking their new blog posts in Google web search. It turns out to be a large problem. A Google Webmaster Help thread has tons of bloggers upset with a recent change. It appears to be a bug either on the Blogger side or on the GoogleBot side. A Google Maps Help thread has a confirmed bug with Google Maps not working on a certain version of Internet Explorer. But now, I and everyone else is seeing a "New" version being tested. At the top of the existing preview tool it - Google's Blank Images On Page Two Bug
A Google Web Search Help thread has several reports amongst other threads and other complaints that Google Image Search is not showing the second page and beyond of images. When you search for anything at Google Image search and scroll to the second page of results, the images are grayed out. Google has actually confirmed this bug with a specific version of Firefox, running in normal mode. When you turn Firefox to run in Safe-Mode - France Gets Google Shopping, Not Sure Why
Google announced they have brought Google Shopping to France at www.google.fr/products. I ask why? Yea, money. But at some point, if I keep getting beaten up by someone even after giving them goodie after goodie, I will stop giving them goodies. France is known to beat up Google over many many products, but yet Google keeps on giving the French users more and more. Okay, I am being childish. It is nice that Google has - SES Chicago 2010 Live Blog Recap
