Carrie Hill

This is part of the say something nice about an SEO/SEM series - feel free to nominate someone over here.

Carrie Hill is 43 years old and lives in the mountains of Colorado. She was born in a small town in Lincoln City, Oregon and one day wants to move back there, if her husband, Todd, ever gives into the idea. She also has a daughter who is 21 and a son who is 16 years old.

Carrie is an avid contributor on Search Engine Land and many other industry publications. She shares her deep knowledge and expertise on local search, SEO and social media marketing at these publications, as well as on social media and other blogs. She has been in the SEO space since 2006 and has been a vital part of our industry since then for years.

Carie was nominated by an individual who is respected in their own right but asked to be anonymous. He wrote:

Carrie is a regular columnist for multiple publications, including industry authority sites SearchEngineLand.com and SearchEngineWatch.com and contributes to Raven Tools Online Marketing Blog as well as the SuccessWorks blog.

Carrie Hill Bio: Carrie has been digging into SEO since 2006 (wow was it really that long ago?), and has been lucky enough to have Mary Bowling as her mentor for years before they went into business together at Ignitor Digital. She has a passion for figuring out what works for each and every client - and an understanding that not every client fits inside a tidy box.

Carrie has written for many industry publications over the years. You can find her work at SearchEngineLand.com, SearchEngineWatch.com, MarketingLand.com, and LocalU.org. Carrie is also fortunate enough to have contributed articles to top agency and software/tool websites as well.

Carrie's passion is Local Search the Semantic Web and the opportunities those avenues provide for all small to medium business owners.

Favorite thing about the SEO community? I absolutely adore how open everyone is. Questions are answered and support is always available when you need it. Nearly everyone in our industry is very aware that we can lift each other up with advice rather than drag others down with criticism.

One piece of advice to the SEOs out there? Stay humble and never stop educating yourself. There's always more to learn, different approaches to a problem, a new feature to investigate, etc.

Favorite things in general? I am a voracious reader and foodie. If I'm not working on SEO/Marketing stuff - I'm reading everything from the classics to cookbooks & fan fiction - with unlimited stops in between!

What you want to be known for in the SEO space? I don't ever want someone to think of me as the person who knows everything - but I'd love to be the go-to person for problems that need to be figured out. I consciously stay humble and am not afraid to admit when I don't know something. Just because I don't know it NOW, doesn't mean I can't figure it out later!
