Craig Campbell

This is part of the say something nice about an SEO/SEM series - feel free to nominate someone over here.

Craig Campbell is 37 years old, is married to his business partner Lauren - they've been together for 17 years, longer than they've been doing SEO but married for four years now. He told me he often gets questions about how it is to work with his wife and he said " it works well so no complaints there." They live in Glasgow in the United Kingdom and his office is about five minutes from their home.

If you've ever seen Craig speak, listen to any of his webinars or presentations at SEO events, or even read any of his social media posts or content - you'd know he is a straight shooter. He wants people to know the truth with SEO, even if it is hard for them to hear. He is often very outspoken and sharp, which may rub some people the wrong way - but his intentions are clear and direct, he wants the best for all those who cross his path.

Craig often speaks at events, he is a regular with the SEMRush crew and is often posting content about SEO for others to learn from.

He was nominated by someone who wants to remain anonymous who wrote this special story about him:

Craig Campbell is someone who i think is remarkable and deserves a massive shout out in the SEO community. Craig is well known for speaking at events and on webinar and is well known for being fairly brutal and honest with his thoughts.

I worked in an agency going no-where but i had followed Craig for a number of years when he ran a successful agency and when he helped that travel company he is well know for helping turn over 100 million. With so much misinformation out there i felt Craig was someone i wanted to learn from.

I approached Craig, I didn't realise he was an experienced trainer and asked for a one to one course and some mentoring.

I was blown away with his knowledge and has helped me get on my feet and I now have my own small agency, I'm a million miles away from being successful but he taught me the core basics of SEO and showed me a lot of tips and tricks that I've never seen anyone else talk about before.

For the past 12 months Craig has mentored me FREE of charge, and i know he mentors many others without taking a penny, always offering his time and expertise as and when people need it.

Not many people know that Craig doesn't do a lot of client work these days, but gives all his leads to the people who he mentors and doesn't take a % he truly wants to help young people learn and get on in the industry.

For someone like Craig to spend so much time helping others is something that is well worth mentioning, I'm sure many others do this too, but he have went above and beyond and it would mean a lot if i was able to see him getting mentioned as much of this stuff goes on behind the scenes and he is an inspirational character.

Craig Campbell Bio: Craig Campbell is an SEO consultant and trainer based in the UK with over 16 years experience in the industry. Craig also regularly talks at SEO events and is a regular host on SEMRush webinars. After years of doing client-side work, Craig has a passion for helping others learn more about SEO by offering one on one training and online SEO courses.

Favorite thing about the SEM community? My favourite thing about the SEO industry is the fact that its a really close community, most people are fairly friendly and help each other out. I think networking and talking with others in the community really helps, we all learn from each other and use each others testing and experience to better our own knowledge. I regularly network ( behind closed doors ) with some of the top SEO's in the UK, and we all help and share advice which helps us all grow. I'm not sure other businesses or industries network and have the same kind of community spirit as the SEO community, so I would say that is one thing that I really like about the SEO community.

One piece of advice to the SEOs out there? I would always say keep an open mind for anyone doing SEO, take time to continually learn, network and pick up as many tips from others as you can. I personally feel networking with industry experts keeps you on top of your game. None of us knows it all, but I think it's important not to have a closed mind and remain open to debate and trying new things. I see a lot of experienced SEO's who do not embrace change or new technology and see them being left behind with changes to the algorithm and technology.

Favorite things in general? Hmm I like lots of things, I love travelling even though I have a massive fear of flying, love seeing new places and meeting new people. I'm also a massive football fan and spend a lot of time attending football games in the UK, my favourite team is Manchester United but do enjoy football in general. So between doing SEO, holidays and football my time is pretty full up but I do try and get that balance of time away from SEO which is important.

What you want to be known for in the SEO space? I'd like to be known as someone who gave 100% as an SEO and is honest and transparent and was happy to help others along the way, if I manage to get a reputation for that then I will be a happy man.
