David Harry

This is part of the say something nice about an SEO/SEM series - feel free to nominate someone over here.

David Harry, 51 years old lives in a small town named Millbrook, in Ontario, Canada with his family consisting of a daughter and son and his wife, Tanya, who is also his business partner. David is well known in the community for his SEO Dojo site, podcasts, hangouts, videos, content and much more. David is also thought of as a "cool dude" who is super kind, generous and caring.

He has been doing the SEO thing since before most of us even started using a web browser. He is really smart, knows the in and outs on the technical side and knows more about how search works than most people in our industry. I have always been a David Harry fan and it is my honor to write this for him.

David got three nominations including;

Donna Cavalier who wrote:

I remember him as the coolest of the cool. Loved his SEO Dojo, the podcasts, and so much other great stuff.

Barry Adams wrote:

When I was relatively new to SEO, I had the privilege of counting David Harry as one of my mentors. He helped me become a better search professional, always asking the tough questions and making me think in different ways about SEO challenges. More importantly, David showed me how to really appreciate what we know about search engines - and what we don't know - and encouraged me to learn the basic principles of information retrieval. Always generous with his time and knowledge, David Harry is truly one of the industry's greatest.

When I first got interested in SEO, David, was one of the few people I met who's main motivation behind SEO was their passion and enthusiasm for the science of information retrieval. Folks like David helped me understand that we are all approaching SEO from different points of view and motivations. Understanding that fully can help appreciate others and their place in the industry, as well as make you a better SEO by learning how others do things differently or the same. David is incredibly generous with his expertise and guidance, and I am grateful to have him in our industry and community

David Harry Bio: David has been in the search marketing game since 1998 through his web development and marketing firm. Always an advocate of so-called “white hat” SEO, he has a strong element to technical and organic approach to SEO.

Favorite thing about the SEO community? My favourite part of the SEO community, is well… jus that; we’re a community. If it’s an opinion or a heling hand, there’s always been someone there to reach out to when it’s needed. From fellow SEO Dojo members, to those seeming “big names”, everyone is very accommodating which is something I’ve taken to heart in my time in the biz.

One piece of advice to the SEOs out there? Think for yourself. While it’s great to have a network of folks to get advice from and there are tons of tools out there, nothing replaces experience and wisdom. Tools are merely data. It’s tool between your ears that will always serve you best.

Favorite things in general? Outside of work (that’s a thing? Huh, who knew?) some things that I’ve enjoyed are cooking, gaming, martial arts and music. I don’t do martial arts any more, too damned old, but I am still very active in the others.

What you want to be known for in the SEO space? I am already known for what I wanted to be known for, and that was on purpose. I am well known as a straight shooting, tell-it-like-it-is technical SEO with a side passion for all things information retrieval. From audits to patents, that’s how I roll.
