We knew it was coming soon and now it is here, Google just announced that most of the testing tools now support the new evergreen GoogleBot. We have been waiting for this for a couple months since Google launched the evergreen GoogleBot for crawling and indexing and now the tools support it as well.
Google announced "Today we updated most of our testing tools so they are using the evergreen Chromium renderer." The tools that support it include:
- Search Console's URL inspection tool
- Mobile-friendly test
- Rich results test
- AMP test
Here is one example Google shared saying "While the previous version of the mobile-friendly test doesn't show the page content, the new version does."
Google said the the testing tools reflect how Googlebot processes your pages as closely as possible. With the update to the new Googlebot, Google had to update them to use the same renderer as Googlebot.
