Search for [michael jordan] and you will see his knowledge panel on the right side of the page. What you will also see a section about his net worth that says "1.65 billion USD (2018) Forbes, Trending." That fact I guess is trending and Google wants searchers to know.
Google did add trending for the people also search for box under the knowledge panel several months ago but in this spot, it does look new to me.

When you click on those links, i.e. "Forbes" in the Michael Jordan example above, it goes to the Forbes article citing his net worth but if you click on trending, it takes you to a query for [michael jordan net worth] which may be what is trending for his name?
