Google's AdMob, the ad platform used by mobile app publishers for monetization, like AdSense but for apps, shut down their legacy service on September 2nd.
All publishers were notified but some are saying that even after they upgraded, the earnings are way down to none existent starting on the second of September.
A Google AdMob Help thread has many many complaints from admob publishers.
Did someone mess up while trying to shut down legacy AdMob and inadvertently down the rest of the AdMob service?
I got in contact with someone on support and they're looking into our issue. We're not getting served ads all of a sudden today and we suspect it might have something to do with the legacy migration (even though we migrated long ago). Also we're almost certain the main website was down a few hours ago.
Someone also posted an image of the drop in earnings:
I am not sure exactly what is wrong. Is it an issue with Google's AdMob, an issue with publishers not taking the right steps or an issue with an ad serving platform not doing the right thing with AdMob now. For example, AdWhirl is 503ing on AdMob serves.
Google has not responded to the complaints in the thread.
