A month ago, Google said it would now label ads created or edited with AI with an AI label within the ad or on the ad itself (depending on the region). We soon saw those AI labels roll out on ads in the Google Search sponsored results but now we are also seeing them in the local pack listings and within Google Discover.
As a reminder, this is what that looks like:
Anthony Higman shared on LinkedIn this screenshot of the AI labels on the ads in the local pack:
And Damien Andell shared on X a videocast of the Google Discover ads with the AI label:
Okay, indeed, I can see the "Ad AI generated" and the ⓘ AI badge in the ads on Google Discover, which appeared on July 28, 2026, and is increasing in frequency in August.

Google will automatically add a disclosure to each ad’s My Ad Center panel when the advertiser uses Google's generative AI advertising tools to create ads. But if they use AI on their own, outside of the Google Ads platform, the advertiser will be able to manually select that they used AI - honor system if you will.
"Based on local requirements, a label may also appear directly on the ad, either automatically or when an advertiser uses this control," Google added. For campaigns that target the European Union, India, and New York, ads with assets that you designate as AI created or edited will also include visible overlays on the ads.
