Google AdSense this morning rolled out frequency controls for vignette ads format in Auto ads. These frequency controls let AdSense publishers decide how often vignettes are shown to their users.
These new controls rolled out on October 23, 2023, and the default vignette frequency is set to 10 minutes. Publishers can choose their own frequency from one minute to one hour depending on how many vignettes that publisher wants to show their users.
The example provided by Google is, if you're looking to earn as much as possible from vignettes, you might select the lowest frequency setting (1 minute). Alternatively, if you'd like users to see less ads, you might set the frequency setting higher (e.g., 10 minutes or more).
Here is a GIF of how to set these frequency controls:
Vignette ads are full-screen ads that appear between page loads and can be skipped by users at any time.
What has changed is:
- Vignettes are now displayed when the user leaves a page or comes back to it.
- After you've turned on vignette ads under Auto ads, you'll be able to change the frequency at which these ads are shown.
- The default frequency is set to 10 minutes. You can choose your own frequency from 1 minute to 1 hour depending on how many vignettes you want to show your users.
