Google AdWords Anti-Piracy Ad Format Tests

Google AdWords PirateEarlier this week, we reported Google is working on releasing an updated Google DMCA Piracy Algorithm update for the organic search results.

But part of that announcement was around other ways Google can reduce piracy within the search results, including the ad formats they use.

Google is testing a new ad format to "help people find legitimate sources of media" and reduce the amount of ways people can find pirated content. The new ad format can be seen for queries in the variations of words containing [download], [free], or [watch]. For example, search for [watch star trek into darkness] and you may see this:

Google is trying to reduce the complaints they receive around piracy as well as piracy sites exploiting searchers computers.
