As I reported at Search Engine Land late Friday, Google is testing a new AdWords ad extension that allows searchers to text information to the advertiser through the AdWords ad.
The new ad extension looks like the call extension where you can click to call the advertiser but instead, here you can click to text.
Here are two screen shots:
When you click it, it opens your text messaging app and will prefill the message with text from the advertiser. In the case above, it read "[Zipwhip] I’m interested to learn more about Zipwhip."
Google sent us a statement at Search Engine Land:
We're always experimenting with new ways to connect our advertisers to customers but don’t have further details to share at this time.
