Google Analytics seems to have had an outage starting at about 4 am ET this morning. The real-time analytics report within Google Analytics was not showing users all of the data. The issue now seems to be resolving a couple of hours later.
Chandramani Das was one of the first to notify me of this and he posted on X at 4:28 am ET:
Anyone else noticing a sudden drop in #GA4 Realtime traffic today? We're seeing 40 to 50% lower numbers across multiple properties within 5 minutes. Checking whether a reporting delay, or a genuine traffic fluctuation in Spam Update.
Yes, of course this happens hours after Google announced the August 2026 spam update - just so site owners can freak out even more.
Here is a screenshot of the real-time Google Analytics report:
Perry Richardson also notified me on X at about 4:25 am ET - he said:
Something not right with Google Analytics live traffic at the moment. Not displaying all traffic at the moment.
can confirm it's down across all the sites i manage.

love how it crashed a few hours after the spam update lol
Some are reporting it is working - and it seems to be working okay for me. So this may be a regional outage only?
well it still looks the same for me. maybe it is the spam update for me

What are you all seeing with GA4 real time reports?
And if you see a huge drop in real time analytics, it might just be a reporting bug.
