Google announced that their new Android search app lets you do searches even when you are offline or have a bad internet connection. What happens is, you search, Google tells you the internet is not working and will try later. When the internet comes back, it will send you a notification that your search results are now ready and you can click on the notification to get the results.
Supposedly it doesn't use up more data or battery - so it is a smooth solution.
