Anna Atkins is getting some special recognition on the Google home page today, 216 years after her date of birth. The blue Google Doodle showcases leaves imprinted on a blue back drop.
That was Anna's style of photography, known as cyanotype photograms, which is a photographic printing process that produces a cyan-blue print.
Google is remembering her life works as a English botanist and photographer, who is known as the first to publish a book with photographic images.
She was born on March 16, 1799 and died on June 9, 1871.
