Google Displaying Not Mobile Friendly Icons In Search Results

Earlier this month, we reported Google began testing mobile friendly icons in the mobile search results, again. They did this back in August as well. But now, they are testing showing an icon that tells the user if the site/web page is not mobile friendly.

Here are pictures from both @malcolmcoles and @sandyallenphoto:

On Android Chrome:

This is what it looks like to see the mobile friendly icon:

Supposedly, many of the sites displaying the not mobile friendly icon are really mobile friendly. So I guess this is a bug or a very limited test right now.

Would Google just show the non-mobile friendly icon or both the mobile friendly icon or none at all? I guess Google is testing to see what works best for the mobile interface.
