Google App indexing is taking on and as more and more app developers start to integrate their app content within Google search, more and more questions arise.

App Indexing lets you send your mobile searchers directly to your content within your app. Now, there are some technical details on how to set up the linkage from your web pages, to your app content.

One question that came up in the Google Webmaster Help forums was what to do with linking that content when you don't have the same URL for your mobile and desktop web site.

John Mueller said he has to research the answer but the answer is to link your desktop URLs and your mobile URLs (both of them) to your app URLs. In addition, verify both in Google Webmaster Tools:

John said:

  • verify both the mobile and the desktop site in Google Play (via "connected sites")
