Google has updated their change of address tool, the first major update since it launched back in 2009.
The new features make it easier for novices to go through the process of using the tool correctly.
Google's John Mueller announced it on Google+ explaining the new tool will "guide you through a part of the process, double-checking that you have the sites verified, that the redirects are in place, and that the redirect doesn't break verification."

The new update does not bring HTTPS migration support to the tool. John Mueller said "this is only for moves from one domain to another" and thus HTTP to HTTPS is the same domain.
