Today on the Google home page is a special logo for one of the inventors of the microchip, integrated circuit. Robert Noyce celebrates his 84th birthday today, he was born in Burlington, Iowa in 1927 and died at the age of 62 on June 3, 1990 in Austin, Texas.

He and Jack Kilby were the inventors of the microchip but Google gave the logo to Robert. Robert was nicknamed "the Mayor of Silicon Valley." He was founder of Intel in 1968 and was looked up to by most individuals in the computer and IT industry, especially those in Silicon Valley.
Not only did he found two renowned companies, Intel and Fairchild Semiconductor, he also has 15 patents under his name.
He was married twice and has four children.
