Google's Aygul Zagidullina announced on Google+ that they have rebranded, renamed, the Google City Experts as Google Local Guides.
I suspect because Google wants to have more local experts not just in major cities but also in smaller locales?

City Experts is now Local Guides, available to people everywhere. Local Guides is a global community of the top reviewers on Google. As you write more reviews, you enjoy more benefits :) It's amazing to see how the program I was a part of while at Google grow and mature!
With that comes new social profiles and landing pages to promote the Local Guides, volunteers who help improve Google's local data by writing local reviews on Google local pages.
