The Google videos Matt Cutts and friends produce are awesome and we analyze every bit of them. But do the shirts, color, type, ever imply anything?
We've looked at Matt's shirts before but now we have Matt going on record that only sometimes does the shirt match the video.
Matt said on HackerNews that he wears the same shirt for every 5-6 videos and then switches. He said the shirt selection is "mostly uncorrelated with the content." But some cases, for some longer videos he may pick a "specific shirt that goes with the topic."
Here is what Matt said:
I switch shirts every 5-6 videos, and we go down the list of videos in order of votes, so shirt color is mostly uncorrelated with the content. If I'm doing a longer or more in-depth video, then I might pick a specific shirt that goes with the topic.
This question came up because theshortcutts.com, which we covered here, offers an option to filter videos by the color of Matt's shirt.
So there you have it, don't spend too much time digging into the meaning of the shirt Matt wore for his videos.
