Google announced on Google+ that you can now search for [how far between X & Y] and Google will show you the distance in miles and map it for you.
So as this is being published, I am traveling from Tel Aviv to New York:

Google said they call this the "As the Crow Flies?" game.
Here is how you play, according to Google:
Wolfram Alpha also answers this query but they differ on what the answer is. Wolfram says 5675 miles and Google says 5565 miles. Plus Wolfram has good stats on that trip.
