Google Doodle Celebrates Yma Sumac

Today on the Google home page is a Doodle, a special Google logo, for Yma Sumac. She was a Peruvian soprano, known as the "The Peruvian Songbird." She was "one of the most famous proponents of exotica music," Wikipedia writes.

She had "extraordinarily wide vocal range of 5 octaves, 3 notes and a semitone ranging from E2 to B♭7 (approximately 107 Hz to 3.7 kHz)."

There is actually a debate on when she was born, some say September 13, 1922 and others say September 10, 1923 - I guess Google is going with September 13, 1922. She did die on November 1, 2008 in Los Angeles.

The Doodle is quiet beutiful and is live on Google US and Peru, Argentina and other countries.
