As I covered at Search Engine Land via Android Police, Google is currently testing a new rounded design that actually cuts out the full Google logo and replaces it with the small G icon.
So the Google logo is removed from the top of the page, which shifts this new rounded search box to the top. On the left of the search box is a G icon, the same as their favorite icon and then the menu and search tools are directly below the search box tucked away cleanly. This gives a nice amount of real estate to the search results page, in a very limited space in general.
