Google Tests Dropping Full Google Logo On Mobile Search Results

Google Round

As I covered at Search Engine Land via Android Police, Google is currently testing a new rounded design that actually cuts out the full Google logo and replaces it with the small G icon.

So the Google logo is removed from the top of the page, which shifts this new rounded search box to the top. On the left of the search box is a G icon, the same as their favorite icon and then the menu and search tools are directly below the search box tucked away cleanly. This gives a nice amount of real estate to the search results page, in a very limited space in general.

Here is the design via a screen shot posted in the comments on Android Police:

Compare that to the normal design:

Google is always testing user experience and interfaces, we have a list of some of them over here.
