Would it be valuable for Google's own engineers, the ones that work on search, compete to rank their own test web sites in Google search? Probably not but it might be good for them to have real world experience with building their own web sites, John Mueller of Google said on Twitter.
John was asked "Has there ever been any internal competitions by Google engineers to see who can get their website to rank the highest?"
John responded "We've thought about this from time to time." "I think it's really useful to have real-world experience with making websites & using our tools + guidance," he added. He then said "However, ranking competitions are totally artificial, and not representative of real-world situations (+create lots of junk)."

It would be fun to watch, I agree.
