Google: You Can Use Different Markup Formats For Structured Data

When implementing schema and structured markup, there are multiple formats you can use, such as microdata, RDFa, or JSON-LD. Are you allowed to use different formats on the same page or even mix them up between your desktop and mobile site?

Google says it shouldn't be an issue, assuming the actual output is the same on both ends.

Jennifer Slegg asked this to Gary Illyes of Google some time ago on Twitter:

Alan Bleiweiss added an important point, that they need to be consistent, if not, it can confuse Google:

I am not sure if anyone tested this but it should be pretty simple to test yourself and see if it causes issues? Of course, Google doesn't always show your rich snippets even if you have the proper markup.

Do you have examples of (a) mixing different markup formats on the same page and (b) different markups across desktop and mobile pages without losing rich snippets?
