Over the past 24 hours or so, I received dozens of notifications of a new look and design for the people also search for box in Google. It is something we covered Google testing back in November. And as I reported at Search Engine Land, the feature and user interface is now officially live in the Google search results.
Here is the new look:
Here is the old look:
The way you can trigger this is by going to Google, search for almost anything, click on a search result, and then click the back button to go back to the search results. Most of the time, not always, it depends on the site you click on and the query, you will get this box to show up.
It is hard to credit all the people who notified me of them seeing this but hey, I'll post them here anyway:
Google showing 'People also search for' suggestions when we click through to a result and then go back. @JohnMu has said before that click data doesn't affect rankings, but this suggests it's at least monitored. Seen this before @rustybrick @randfish? #SEO pic.twitter.com/65hwz6jIxI

Is Google testing a new feature ? I see a "people also search for" section appearing right after I click the top result and it opens in a new tab.

It seems to appear only when I return to this tab from the newly opened tab. cc @JohnMu @dannysullivan pic.twitter.com/RhXww5UPTK
@rustybrick Hi Barry, I may be way behind the times, however I've never seen this before...is it new? We're in a different locale at the moment (usually use Google UK) pic.twitter.com/EiPZq1gcMZ

Anyone else seeing this behavior in #Google's serps? Different look than before and they appear after clicking on the link then coming back to the serps. @rustybrick @jenstar #SEO pic.twitter.com/YVMbCsMHio

Interesting feature I wasn't aware of (split test I imagine). When making a search, if I select an organic result, then click back to the search results, the listing I clicked is then boxed in with 'people also search for' links 🤔 pic.twitter.com/0xGXT2j3mF

Has anyone seen this feature before?

Google showing 'People also search for' queries related to a specific website. Is it something new or I noticed it a bit late? 😃
