Today on Google's home page is a special Google Doodle, Google Logo, for Charles Macintosh. Charles Macintosh was a chemist from Glasgow, United Kingdom who invented waterproof material. Hence the logo with a man standing in the rain in a raincoat.
Google wrote on their Doodle page, "it's a wonder how the weatherbeaten Brits coped before Scottish chemist Charles Macintosh invented his eponymous waterproof coat."
He was born 250 years ago today on December 29, 1766 and passed at the age of 76 on July 25, 1843.
