google maps liteEarlier this month, Google announced they will be dropping the classic version of Google Maps and for those who need a watered down version, they would go to a new version called Google Maps Lite.

It seems like that has now begun and some users who normally would see the classic version are now being sent to Google Maps Lite. Those users, as you'd imagine, are not happy. The Google Maps forum is lighting up with complaints, including this Google Maps Help thread amongst dozens of others, all with significant anger in the tone of these users.

This is what the new Google Maps Lite version looks like when you try to visit the site:

You can access the classic version at google.com/lochp still but I am not sure when that will go away.

More and more classic users are being forced into Google Maps Lite but you can toggle to the full version by using the lightning bolt at the bottom right of the screen.
