There is this feature in Google Maps called Google Maps Timeline, which we covered before here, that lets you keep track of where you've been. It uses your device data, iPhone or Android, using Google Maps and other methods to keep track of where you've been so you can look back at your adventures.
Well, for the past few weeks or so many have been complaining that their data in the Google Maps Timeline disappeared. Timeline history before May 19th of this year went missing, according to many.
Google did chime in about it two days ago saying:
Lesia from Google here :) The team is aware of the issue and they are working on a fix. Will keep you posted once we have more progress.
This morning, some started to notice data backfilling in again, not all but some are starting to notice. My first thought would be this is a GDPR change but it looks like it may have been a related bug and Google is fixing the data loss.
