Google Maps Labels Today's Events On The Map

Google Maps seems to now be labeling upcoming events in your local area with a "today" label. Max Minzer spotted this and posted about it on Google+.

Here are screen shots that shows a pink pin (circle, where the event is location) with a "today" label for the event:

Here is a version that shows it in the calendar in the map at the bottom, showing this is happening today:

Brad Brewer added "I got the same pink event icon yesterday, it's new as far as I can tell. I'm in Denver and the screens were the similar to yours." Mike Blumenthal said "It looks like a Maps event... not paid. Haven't seen before. If paid it would say "sponsored" someplace."
