I am seeing some webmasters and SEOs claim they have seen recoveries over the weekend with some of their sites impacted by the Google Medic update that took place on August 1st. I am not sure if we can trust these reports or if they are confusing this Medic update with a different update - but I am seeing some people claim they recovered.
Some folks have been looking at the Panda advice - some pruning content and some doing other things - this is despite Google saying there is no fix for this update.
Here is what I am seeing some SEOs saying about recoveries, but none are saying what they did - while some said they did nothing, their sites just recovered themselves:
It seems Google has turned back the August 1 update? My pages are back to pre August update. The update was a complete disaster for my company and many other companies. You can't just delete pages that have years of link profiling, just like that. I had 40 percent loss of revenue between 1st and 16th of August. Now it's back. Google scared the hell out of me with this update. 10.000 dollars less revenue in 15 days because of this #*$! update. Glad it's back now. I will put more energy in SEO to stay in front of future updates.
Here is my SERP Update. Looks like everything is back to normal slowly. Well almost...lolWhat I did?
Nothing...
I just waited out. Site has no author bio. I guess it's because of the niche. It's humor or gossip site. So there's no need of "Expertise" imo.
My rankings have returned too. But some are still bouncing around. All these 'ranking returns' happened during the past 2 days. So I would give it another 1-2 weeks. And what we all did? Nothing. We all just wait and carried on as normal. Many competitors with junk content were wiped out... there are still a few hanging around but not as much as before.
So what has happened with these sites? It is almost impossible for me to know but here are some options:
- Google made some tweaks to the August 1st update and these sites recovered (it is not uncommon for Google to tweak updates after they are pushed)
- The site itself was never impacted by this specific update and is recovering from something else
- Something else boosted the site up, unrelated to the August 1st update
- There was a technical issue impacting the site
- They are making this up
I mean, the list of possibilities can go on but maybe Google did do a tweak over the weekend and some sites are recovering?
