Yesterday there were a batch of Google Search Console notifications around sites switching to the mobile-first indexing process. I stopped covering the notifications after the fourth batch of notifications have gone out. But this is a just a reminder that by the time you got the notification, you have already been in the mobile-first indexing process for a while.
Google's John Mueller restated this, while on vacation, on Twitter. John said "Fwiw it's mostly the messages, the move happens beforehand."
Fwiw it's mostly the messages, the move happens beforehand. Thanks for tracking these!

The notifications are super useful, so I do not want Google to stop sending them. But they can be a week or more delayed from when a site is transitioned to the mobile-first indexing process.
We know we are far from done for Google to move all sites to this mobile-first indexing process. Also, I recommend you read these seven points on mobile-first indexing if this is all new to you.
