There are two reports of bugs with Google News out today. The first is around how Google News links up with Google Finance and the second is how some people are seeing only local news in their top news section on the Google News home page.
Google News & Finance Link Issue:
There are several reports in the Google News Help forum with complaints from Google News publishers that their articles are not showing up for stock searches in Google Finance. Yes, if you have an article related to a public company, many times the article should show on the news section of a Google Finance search for that company.
Harvey from Google News said:
Looks like something is up. Our team is at work trying to figure out what might be going on and how we can resolve it. Thanks so much reporting this issue. Stayed tuned for updates.
Meanwhile, these publishers are losing nice traffic and investors are losing potentially compelling and influential stories for stock purchase decisions. Despite the economy and stock market looking really really bad right now.
Top News Showing Local News
A user is reporting an issue in a different Google News Help thread that all his "Top Stories" displayed on the Google News home page are not top stories for him. The user said:
Help--beginning yesterday, my "Top Stories" list in the leftmost column is a list of local headlines instead of national ones. Previously, the top national and international headlines were there. Since I don't care about local news, most of which is sports and lousy indiana politics, how do I change this back, or get rid of the leftmost column altogether? (I'm using the 3 column view, and the other two columns are fine.)
Harvey from Google News replied to that as well, he said, "Our team is fast at working investigating why this might be the case."
There is not ETA for fixing either issue.
