Friday, we reported about a Google update or signs of a pretty interesting Google update. As the weekend progressed, more and more folks have also seen their data showing a Google update. From the SEO community to the SEO tracking tools and more - it does indeed seem there was an update to the core Google search results on Friday/Saturday.
That being said, I personally tried to get a comment directly from Google PR and folks like John Mueller but have had little success thus far. Today is Labor Day in the states, so it will make it even harder to get a statement from Google PR today.
John Mueller did say that if there was something Google wants to announce on this, it wouldn't have to wait for the US time zone. Here is that tweet:
@dawnieando @BecomeKnown @iqseo If there were anything to announce, that wouldn't be something they'd have to do in their time zone.
— John Mueller (@JohnMu) September 5, 2016
John also gave the famous Google line about there being thousands of updates per year, so it is hard to announce them all. True true:
@dawnieando @BecomeKnown @iqseo We make a ton of updates that don't get announced (at 1000+/year, that would be hard).
— John Mueller (@JohnMu) September 5, 2016
Finally, he said that Google did not announce anything on this - at least yet. So no official word from Google on this yet.
@iqseo @dawnieando @methode @BecomeKnown I'm not aware of anything special that we announced, but we're always making updates.
