Over a month ago, we reported about issues with the Google Search Console crawl errors reports for apps that it was not updating. Google's John Mueller said then it is a known issue and they are working on it.
The issue is still there and John updated us in the ongoing Google Webmaster Thread saying:
Just to follow up here, these reports are currently (as you noticed) stale -- sorry. We're working on resolving this. In the meantime, I'd recommend using the App Indexing API & double-checking through Fetch as Google that it's being picked up properly.
Jennifer Slegg spotted an update on the data anomalies page crawl errors section that says "Nov 20 (mobile apps only) - Google search starts revamping App Indexing error reporting." But no change yet.
I know with the Search Engine Roundtable apps, we had some indexing issues after we launched and our traffic to our app died from Google search. But I saw and still see, zero crawl errors:
And when I use the fetch as Google on some pages in the app it works and some pages it does not work:
So I am not sure how to debug this too well. I have my developers on it and they get some feedback from the Google App Indexing API, so we are working through it.
I know very few webmasters are using the Search Console for apps but if they want app developers to ramp up, they need to get the Search Console updated faster.
