Google Search Profiles Hero

As expected, Google is now enabling those with Google Search Profiles to edit their handle, their short name. This is available by going to your Google Search Profile, click Edit profile and then next to your @handle, click Edit.

Google added this information to the help documentation over night and it says:

Edit your handle

  1. On your profile page, click Edit profile.
  2. Next to your @handle, click Edit.
    • If you don’t have a handle, click Edit handle.
  3. Select the handle you want to use.
Tip: If the handle you want isn’t listed, you can link a new social account.
  4. Once selected, your new handle appears on your profile.

Google also added four new FAQs to the document including:

  • Why can’t I type my own handle?
  • Which social accounts can I link to my profile?
  • How are decisions about suggested profile changes made?
  • Why is my suggested profile change stuck in a “pending” state?
