Google Is Updating Their SEO Starter Guide For Mobile & More

Last month we reported that Google said their SEO starter guide is still relevant even though it was not updated since 2010. Well, I guess it was not relevant enough! Google has said they are now in the process of updating the guide and hopes it will be out soon.

Specifically, John Mueller of Google said while "most of the content there is still kind of okay" they do need to update the mobile guidelines, as much has changed since 2010 around mobile.

John Mueller said at the 39:54 mark into the video that they are updating the SEO starter guide.

Question: Please update the SEO starter guide.

Answer: Yes, we will. We actually have some work being done on this and I hope it is not too far out. So it should be coming at some point. Most of the content there is still kind of okay but things like mobile. mobile web site, mobile pages, information is based on older state of things when everything was very different on mobile. So that is espesially something that we are updating.
