Some Google AdWords advertisers are getting notices that the old AdWords interface will be completely unreachable starting on July 10, 2018. The email some are receiving says "starting on July 10, 2018, the nw AdWords will become the exclusive way to manage your account, and access to the previous experience will no longer be available." It turns out that Google is rolling out the sunsetting of the old interface throughout the year, according to Ginny Marvin at Search Engine Land.
So while some are getting these notices, not every advertiser will see the old interface go away on July 10th. Only some, those who received this notification will see it go away on July 10th. here is the notice from Mary Hartman on Twitter:
Ginny Marvin wrote that "not everyone will be transitioned to the new interface next month." "This will be a phased approach. Google will be notifying advertisers about the timing of the switch over for their accounts on a rolling basis until all accounts globally have been switched over by year-end," she added.
We expected the old AdWords interface to be shutdown in 2018, but no one expected it to happen in mid-2018. Most people felt it would happen in October or so, before the holiday shopping season or on December 31st. I guess Google wants to see how people react to the sunsetting of the old interface completely before shutting it off for everyone on one day. Rolling out the shut down slowly does make it easier on the AdWords support team, so that does make sense.
Google announced the new AdWords interface over two years ago and it was available to everyone last year - so advertisers did have plenty of time to adapt.
