Yesterday, Matt Cutts, Google's head of search spam, posted a long video describing what the typical day is like for a Google spam fighter.
First he explains that there are two types of spam fighters, the engineers who write algorithms and the manual action spam fighters who handle specific cases manually.
He also explains that there really is no typical day. What a spam fighter might be assigned to do for the week, might change as the week goes on depending on the crisis at hand.
It is an interesting video that helps you get some insight into the thought process behind spam algorithms and manual actions.
