Google: Too Many Subfolders Doesn't Hurt Your Search Rankings

A webmaster asked Google if having too many subfolders on your site, in your site architecture, could that hurt your rankings. Google responded to the question on Twitter saying no, it does not hurt your rankings. Of course, Google added that you should make sure those URLs are linked to so Google can crawl and index them, but if they have many subfolders, that doesn't matter.

About a year ago, Google said something similar around this saying folder level hierarchy isn't important to Google. Again, it isn't about where you place things in your URL structure or on your server but how your web site navigation connects all those URLs so that they can easily be discovered.
