Since Google starting showing video carousels in the desktop results again, Google seems to have been showing way more videos in search than in the past. So much so, I've been seeing SEOs asking about how they can stop Google from showing these video carousels and video thumbnails in the search results for their brands.

They are now showing up for a lot more queries.
That being said, one webmaster said a video is showing up in search based on the web site having a video in their background. He asked how can he get Google to stop showing the video in the search results. John Mueller of Google responded on Twitter saying he should disallow crawling of the video and it wil eventually go away. You can also submit a video sitemap for it and specify an expiration date in the past, he said.
