Google's John Mueller posted on Google+ a question on how users, webmasters and developers are using the Google Webmaster Tools API.

I'd love to see more of how the Webmaster Tools API is being used, or where people are otherwise reusing data from Webmaster Tools. Who has some neat examples, or ideas? What would you love to see in an updated API?
The key here is to give Google feedback on what features you'd like to to see in the API so that you can build even better tools and features with it.
