Over the weekend, I've been getting lots of questions from webmasters if I noticed a Google update starting late Friday into Saturday and Sunday. Truth is, yea, there is higher than normal webmaster chatter around changes in the desktop search results, unrelated to mobile results.
The chatter is supported by the various tracking tools including MozCast, Algoroo, SERP Metrics, SERPs and others as well
Here are some of the comments from the ongoing WebmasterWorld thread:
I have to adjust my drop is now at -60%. Something is going through. I think they started a Panda update too.
Saturday's are usually my worst day, but this is low even for a Saturday
Yes, something happend with Google.de, but I'm not convinced it was Panda. While there was some significant movement on saturday, the changes seemed to have rolled back at this point, so there is very little change for the SERPs I monitor.
It might have shifted back now, but here are screen shots of the tracking tools:
Pete Meyers from Moz said it was unrelated to mobile, as he posted on Twitter:
Hotter algo temps across both desktop and mobile (~79 deg. F), but no real difference and no new signs of #Mobilegeddon.
