As you know, we are now at a point where we strongly believe there was a Google update over the weekend after tracking the update for about 24-48 hours.
John Mueller initially responded saying Google is always making updates, but that apparently was no confirmation - as we suspected:
Yep! We make updates all the time.

This morning, John Mueller confirmed it was not a confirmation and said on Twitter "there's nothing confirmed from our side." "This is all just random chatter" he added, downplaying all of this.
There's nothing confirmed from our side, this is all just random chatter. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Yea, it is random chatter from our industry and the tools are 100% on fire. One of those tools dug into the changes. RankRanger explained that sites ranking between positions 6-10 have seen the most volatility in this update and explained in detail their findings.
The update still seems to be rolling out and more and more webmasters and SEOs are taking notice.
Thanks for the no confirmation Google - it is helpful. 😒
