Earlier this month, Google's In Depth articles search features mysteriously dropped out. I emailed Google about 5 times asking for a comment, almost each time they said they would get back to me and never did. But now, it seems like the in-depth articles are back.
Google first launched indepth articles in 2013. Since then, they have changed in terms of the way they are displayed in the search results. But they never were removed, that was until a couple weeks ago. I suspected it was a bug and without Google commenting and now people seeing them return, I suspect it was indeed a bug.
Aaron Friedman posted about their return on Twitter and posted a screen shot showing it returning. He of course didn't miss an opportunity for branding in that screen shot. ;-) You can click to enlarge it:
I am not sure which SEOs are so passionate about these in-depth articles. I mean, most didn't really care when they disappeared.
Personally, I do not yet see them myself.
