Maile Ohye quietly announced on Google+ that she is leaving Google. She started with Google almost 12 years ago in September 2005, she was instrumental in building out Google Search Console (formerly known as Google Webmaster Tools), helping build out the Webmaster Trends team and many other departments and products at Google.
She was the face on many many Google Webmaster related videos and blog posts, including the most recent one named how to hire an SEO from the other week.
She wrote on Google+:
Saying farewell to Google... thank you to everyone in the SEO and webmaster community for many wonderful moments! To +John Mueller +Mariya Moeva +Gary Illyes +Brian White +Nathan Johns +Ilya Grigorik +Kazushi Nagayama +Avinash Kaushik and all my other wonderful Google colleagues, keep it up! I'll miss u guys. xoxo
This is a pretty big loss to the SEO community and Google but I suspect someone will step up in her place.
Maile - from the SEO community - thank you for everything you've done from speaking at our events, to writing up technical documents to make our lives easier, to the awesome way you communicate in video tutorials and even to working on the early version of Google TV :). We've written about her contributions countless times here.
Best of luck in the future and you will be missed.
