This is the second time a Googler said that SEOs, webmasters, publishers should be paying more attention to image search and video search. John Mueller said it a couple weeks ago and now Gary Illyes said it last Friday.
Gary said it twice in his AMA on Reddit:
(1) "Google Images and Video search is often overlooked, but they have massive potential."
(2) "We simply know that media search is way too ignored for what it's capable doing for publishers so we're throwing more engineers at it as well as more outreach."
How can you make images or videos or GIFs that are unique that solve problems for searchers?
So if you are not focusing a bit more on your images, videos or maybe even GIFs, you might want to start thinking about it.
